STREAM A: Demonstrating Implementation Excellence

The ‘Demonstrating Excellence’ stream invites implementers from healthcare organizations, government agencies and the commercial sector share their experiences implementing SNOMED CT. Implementers will outline their rationale for using SNOMED CT, the traditional and innovative implementation approaches used including work alongside other vocabularies, the challenges faced and resulting benefits they achieved, along with commentary on the next level of planned SNOMED CT use.

STREAM B: Enhancing Clinical Practice

The ‘Enhancing Clinical Practice’ stream focuses on clinical achievements that have been made possible with SNOMED CT. Improvements in quality measures and outcomes, strengthened patient safety and population health initiatives speak to the array of outcome, efficiency and clinical benefits possible for healthcare professionals and their patients.

STREAM C: Leading Practices

The ‘Leading Practices Delivering SNOMED CT’ stream focuses on the development and enhancement of the SNOMED CT product within the national context. Presenters will share their perspectives on how SNOMED CT is implemented and maintained through first-hand experiences with translation, tooling, data element definition and governance, and approaches to maintaining up to date reference sets. Presenters may also expand on their experiences interoperating and collaborating with other health information standards, organizations and leveraging commercial partnerships.

Submission Guidelines:

All Expo presentations and posters must be focused on SNOMED CT and should be informative rather than promoting a particular product or service. They should enable attendees to enhance the breadth of their knowledge of SNOMED CT as well as comparing and contrasting a range of experiences of practical approaches, benefits realized and lessons learned.

•    Expo Presentations:

Presentations will be allocated a timeslot of 30 minutes in an appropriate session of the Expo event. Speakers are expected to attend and present in person. Computer projection will be provided for all presentation sessions, and speakers will be required to submit a PDF of their slide deck in advance of the event for future publication online.

•    Expo E-Posters (new for 2018)

Posters describing implementation experiences will be displayed in the exhibition area of the Expo on large-screen monitors throughout the event and are intended to be a more interactive experience than a traditional paper poster. Electronic posters can incorporate images, slideshows and even videos.

Important Information for Presenters:

SNOMED International is a not-for-profit organization.Those selected to present will receive complimentary entry to the Expo, however presenters will be responsible for all costs associated with presenting (including travel expenses). Presenters will retain their intellectual property rights associated with presentations at the Expo. However, by submitting an abstract the author agrees that SNOMED International will publish presentations (in PDF format) on the SNOMED International website post-event.
