SNOMED CT Expo, 19 - 20 October 2017, Bratislava, Slovak Republic

Call for Papers: Now closed

SNOMED International advises that the 2017 Call for Papers has now closed.

It was asked that proposals for the SNOMED CT Expo 2017 programme should focus on the following topics

•    SNOMED in Action

The ‘SNOMED in Action’ conference stream focuses on sharing practical, first-hand experiences using SNOMED CT in clinical solutions. Implementers from healthcare organisations, government agencies and the commercial sector will share their rationale for using SNOMED CT, the approaches taken, challenges faced and the resulting benefits they were able to achieve.

•    Enhancing Clinical Practice using SNOMED CT

The ‘Enhancing Clinical Practice’ conference stream focuses on clinical achievements that have been made possible with SNOMED CT. Improvements in quality measures and outcomes, strengthened patient safety and population health initiatives speak to the array of outcome, efficiency and cost reduction-based benefits possible for healthcare professionals and their patients.

•    Leveraging SNOMED CT

‘Leveraging SNOMED CT’ focuses on the development and enhancement of the SNOMED CT product. Presenters will share how SNOMED CT can be implemented in your environment through their first-hand accounts of working with translation, reference sets and successfully interoperating with other health information standards.

Key Dates:

  • Friday 19th May 2017 (21:00 UTC) – Call for submissions closes (review by Programme Committee begins) (EXTENDED DEADLINE)
  • Monday 3rd July 2017 (by 18:00 UTC) – Proposers informed whether their submissions have been accepted (EXTENDED DEADLINE)

  • Monday 2nd October 2017 – Final date to submit PDF electronic copies of posters and slide decks (for future publication after the event)

Submission Guidelines:

All Expo presentations and posters must be focused on SNOMED CT and should be informative rather than promoting a particular product or service. They should enable attendees to enhance the breadth of their knowledge of SNOMED CT as well as comparing and contrasting a range of experiences of practical approaches, benefits realized and lessons learned.

•    Expo Presentations:

Presentations will be allocated a timeslot of 30 minutes in an appropriate session of the Expo event. Speakers are expected to attend and present in person. Computer projection (via the presenter’s own laptop) will be provided for all presentation sessions, and speakers will be required to submit a PDF of their slide deck in advance of the event for future publication online.

•    Expo Posters:

Posters describing implementation experiences will be displayed in the exhibition area of the Expo. Authors are required to print and display their poster and should also be available to discuss their work with attendees during refreshment breaks. Poster sizes will be ISO sizes A0 or A1 (similar to ANSI E or D).
